भारतीय सिनेमा और मध्य एशिया के सांस्कृतिक संबंधों पर दो दिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय परिसंवाद सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न
कल्याण, 19 सितंबर 2026। के. एम. अग्रवाल कला, वाणिज्य एवं विज्ञान महाविद्यालय, कल्याण (पश्चिम), महाराष्ट्र के हिन्दी विभाग द्वारा सहयोगी राष्ट्रीय एवं अंतरराष्ट्रीय संस्थाओं के साथ आयोजित दो दिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय अंतर्विषयी ऑनलाइन परिसंवाद ‘मध्य एशिया में भारतीय सिनेमा: इतिहास, संस्कृति और सांस्कृतिक कूटनीति’ आज सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न हुआ। 18 और 19 सितंबर 2026 को हिन्दी तथा अंग्रेज़ी माध्यम में आयोजित इस अकादमिक कार्यक्रम ने भारतीय सिनेमा और मध्य एशियाई समाजों के बीच विकसित ऐतिहासिक, भावनात्मक और सांस्कृतिक संबंधों को गंभीर शोध-विमर्श का विषय बनाया। भारत, उज़्बेकिस्तान, श्रीलंका, अज़रबैजान तथा अन्य क्षेत्रों से जुड़े शिक्षकों, शोधकर्ताओं, अनुवादकों और संस्कृति-अध्येताओं ने इसमें भाग लिया।
परिसंवाद का संयुक्त आयोजन महाराष्ट्र राज्य हिन्दी साहित्य अकादमी, के. एम. अग्रवाल महाविद्यालय, कल्याण, इंटरनेशनल इंस्टिट्यूट फॉर सेंट्रल एशियन स्टडीज़ (IICAS), समरकंद तथा ताशकंद स्टेट यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ ओरिएंटल स्टडीज़ (TSUOS), ताशकंद के अकादमिक सहयोग से किया गया। आयोजन का उद्देश्य भारतीय फिल्मों की मध्य एशिया में लोकप्रियता का उत्सव मनाने तक सीमित न रहकर उसके इतिहास, दर्शक-स्मृति, अनुवाद, डबिंग, सामाजिक प्रतिनिधित्व, डिजिटल प्रसार, सॉफ्ट पावर और सांस्कृतिक कूटनीति का आलोचनात्मक अध्ययन करना था। परिसंवाद ने फिल्म अध्ययन को हिन्दी, इतिहास, समाजशास्त्र, अंतरराष्ट्रीय संबंध, मीडिया अध्ययन और अनुवाद-विज्ञान से जोड़ने वाला साझा मंच प्रदान किया।
उद्घाटन सत्र का संचालन श्री परवीन कुमार ने किया। परिसंवाद के संयोजक डॉ. मनीष कुमार सी. मिश्रा ने विषय की अकादमिक पृष्ठभूमि प्रस्तुत करते हुए कहा कि मध्य एशिया में भारतीय सिनेमा का अध्ययन केवल राज कपूर या किसी एक लोकप्रिय सितारे की स्मृति तक सीमित नहीं होना चाहिए; इसे अभिलेखों, दर्शकीय अनुभवों, भाषायी संपर्क, सांस्कृतिक स्मृति और बदलती मीडिया-प्रौद्योगिकी के संदर्भ में व्यवस्थित शोध-क्षेत्र के रूप में विकसित करने की आवश्यकता है। प्राचार्य डॉ. अनिता मन्ना ने स्वागत भाषण में अंतरराष्ट्रीय संस्थागत सहयोग के महत्व पर बल दिया। उद्घाटन सत्र की अध्यक्षता IICAS के निदेशक श्री एवरेन रुतबिल ने की। प्रो. शीतला प्रसाद दुबे मुख्य अतिथि रहे, प्रो. निर्मल कुमार ने बीज वक्तव्य दिया और डॉ. नीलूफर खोदजाएवा ने विशिष्ट संबोधन प्रस्तुत किया।
चार तकनीकी सत्रों में भारतीय सिनेमा के विविध ऐतिहासिक और समकालीन पक्षों पर प्रपत्र प्रस्तुत किए गए। प्रथम सत्र की अध्यक्षता प्रो. उल्फत मुखिबोवा ने की और समन्वय श्री परवीन कुमार ने किया। इसमें राज कपूर की मध्य एशियाई लोकप्रियता, सोवियत कालीन फिल्म-स्मृति, गीतों और सितारों की सांस्कृतिक उपस्थिति तथा स्थानीय भाषाओं में विकसित सिनेमाई साहित्य पर चर्चा हुई। प्रो. मुखिबोवा द्वारा राज कपूर से संबंधित उज़्बेक प्रकाशन प्रदर्शित किया जाना सत्र का विशेष आकर्षण रहा। वक्ताओं ने बताया कि मध्य एशियाई दर्शकों ने भारतीय फिल्मों को निष्क्रिय रूप से ग्रहण नहीं किया, बल्कि गीतों, संवादों, नैतिक मूल्यों और पारिवारिक संवेदनाओं को अपनी सांस्कृतिक स्मृति का हिस्सा बनाया।
द्वितीय तकनीकी सत्र की अध्यक्षता प्रो. (डॉ.) मनजीत मान ने तथा समन्वय डॉ. अमाली निसंसला परेरा ने किया। इस सत्र में सिनेमा, भाषा, साहित्य, पहचान और अंतरसांस्कृतिक समझ के संबंधों पर विमर्श हुआ। तृतीय सत्र की अध्यक्षता प्रो. सतीश पांडेय ने की और सत्र समन्वयक डॉ. उषा आलोक दुबे थीं। इस सत्र में क्षेत्रीय और भोजपुरी सिनेमा, अनुवाद, उपशीर्षक, डबिंग तथा मध्य एशियाई दर्शकों तक भारतीय सामाजिक-सांस्कृतिक संदर्भों के संप्रेषण पर विशेष ध्यान दिया गया। चर्चा ने स्पष्ट किया कि ‘भारतीय सिनेमा’ को केवल मुख्यधारा हिन्दी फिल्मों का पर्याय मानना उचित नहीं है; भारत की बहुभाषिक और क्षेत्रीय फिल्म-परंपराएँ भी सांस्कृतिक संपर्क की महत्वपूर्ण वाहक हैं।
चतुर्थ तकनीकी सत्र की अध्यक्षता श्री भानुदास महाजन ने की और इसका समन्वय श्री परवीन कुमार ने किया। डॉ. स्वाति आर. जोशी के विषय ‘बियॉन्ड द बिग स्क्रीन: इंडियन सिनेमा इन द ओटीटी एरा’ ने स्ट्रीमिंग प्लेटफॉर्म, मोबाइल दर्शक, डिजिटल परिवर्तन और मध्य एशिया के उभरते दर्शक-समुदायों की ओर ध्यान आकर्षित किया। ‘डिस्को डांसर टू ताजिक जिमी’ विषय ने यह रेखांकित किया कि भारतीय सिनेमा का प्रभाव एकतरफा सांस्कृतिक प्रसार नहीं, बल्कि स्थानीय पुनर्व्याख्या और सांस्कृतिक अनुकूलन की सक्रिय प्रक्रिया है। संजय जगन्नाथ बहारे के प्रपत्र ने दलित हाशियाकरण, अधीनस्थ यथार्थ और सिनेमाई सॉफ्ट पावर को जोड़ते हुए सांस्कृतिक कूटनीति के विमर्श में सामाजिक न्याय के प्रश्न शामिल किए।
प्रपत्र-वाचकों में डॉ. अमाली परेरा, सिन्हालागे हर्षनी मदुवंथि सिन्हालागे, रशाधि युरेशिका, संजय जगन्नाथ बहारे, डॉ. उषा आलोक दुबे, डॉ. रीना सिंह, सोनी कुमारी ठाकुर, शम्सिकामार तिलोवमुरोदोवा, परवीन कुमार, डॉ. रहमतजानोवा कमोला, शेरदोर पुलातोव, डॉ. स्वाति आर. जोशी, डॉ. कुलदीप पांडेय, कृतिका पांडेय, किरण ओमप्रकाश गोस्वामी, सुमित कुमार, डॉ. नम्रता सावंत सहित अनेक विद्वान सम्मिलित थे। डॉ. संतोष मोटवानी और डॉ. सुधीर चौबे ने भी प्रपत्र प्रस्तुत किए। विभिन्न अनुशासनों और देशों के प्रतिभागियों की उपस्थिति ने परिसंवाद को वास्तविक अंतर्विषयी तथा अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्वरूप प्रदान किया।
समापन सत्र की अध्यक्षता प्राचार्य डॉ. अनिता मन्ना ने की। श्री एवरेन रुतबिल ने समापन वक्तव्य दिया और डॉ. मनीष कुमार सी. मिश्रा ने दो दिवसीय कार्यवाही का प्रतिवेदन प्रस्तुत किया। मुख्य अतिथि श्री सितेश कुमार, द्वितीय सचिव (वाणिज्य), भारतीय दूतावास, बुखारेस्ट, रोमानिया ने अकादमिक विमर्श को व्यावहारिक सांस्कृतिक कूटनीति और अंतरराष्ट्रीय संबंधों के परिप्रेक्ष्य से जोड़ा। उन्होंने भारतीय सिनेमा, भाषा, शिक्षा और अकादमिक आदान-प्रदान को देशों के बीच जन-से-जन संबंध मजबूत करने वाला प्रभावी माध्यम बताया। उनकी उपस्थिति ने इस केंद्रीय विचार को संस्थागत महत्व दिया कि सांस्कृतिक प्रभाव केवल औपचारिक समझौतों से नहीं, बल्कि फिल्मों, कहानियों, संगीत, भाषाओं और साझा स्मृतियों के निरंतर संपर्क से विकसित होता है। सुश्री श्वेता पांडेय, न्यासी, के. एम. अग्रवाल महाविद्यालय विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहीं।
परिसंवाद से चयनित शोध-पत्रों का संपादित द्विभाषी अथवा बहुभाषी ग्रंथ प्रकाशित करने, मध्य एशिया में भारतीय फिल्मों की स्मृतियों पर मौखिक इतिहास परियोजना विकसित करने, अनुवाद और डबिंग के इतिहास का दस्तावेजीकरण करने तथा भारत-मध्य एशिया सिनेमा संबंधी डिजिटल अभिलेख तैयार करने की अनुशंसा की गई। आयोजकों ने ‘रूस और मध्य एशिया में हिन्दी सिनेमा’ विषय पर आगामी परिसंवाद आयोजित करने की दिशा में भी कार्य करने का संकल्प व्यक्त किया। दोनों दिनों की कार्यवाही पाँच वीडियो भागों में ‘Hindi Language and Literature’ यूट्यूब चैनल @Manishmuntazir पर सार्वजनिक रूप से उपलब्ध है। आयोजन की सफलता के लिए सहयोगी संस्थाओं, अध्यक्षों, समन्वयकों, प्रपत्र-वाचकों, प्रतिभागियों और तकनीकी सहयोग दल के प्रति आभार व्यक्त किया गया।

Two Day International Conference Examines Indian Cinema as a Cultural Bridge between India and Central Asia
Kalyan, 19 September 2026. The Two-Day International Interdisciplinary Online Conference on ‘Indian Cinema in Central Asia: History, Culture and Cultural Diplomacy’ concluded successfully today after two days of sustained academic discussion. Held on 18 and 19 September 2026 in Hindi and English, the conference examined the historical, emotional and cultural relationship created by Indian cinema across Central Asian societies. Teachers, researchers, translators, cultural specialists and students connected with India, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan and the wider region participated in the programme, which treated cinema not only as entertainment but also as cultural memory, social representation, soft power and a medium of people-to-people contact.
The conference was jointly organised through the academic cooperation of the Maharashtra Rajya Hindi Sahitya Akademi, K. M. Agrawal College, Kalyan, the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS), Samarkand, and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS), Tashkent. Its purpose was to move beyond celebratory accounts of the popularity of Hindi films and to investigate circulation, audience memory, translation, dubbing, social representation, digital distribution and cultural diplomacy. By bringing cinema studies into conversation with Hindi, history, sociology, international relations, media studies and translation, the conference established a broad interdisciplinary framework for future research on India-Central Asia cultural relations.
Mr. Parveen Kumar coordinated the inaugural session. Conference Convener Dr. Manish Kumar C. Mishra introduced the intellectual background of the programme and argued that the study of Indian cinema in Central Asia should not remain confined to anecdotes about Raj Kapoor or the popularity of individual stars. He called for systematic research using archives, audience memories, language contact, reception history and changing media technologies. Principal Dr. Anita Manna welcomed the participants and underlined the value of sustained institutional cooperation. The inaugural session was chaired by Mr. Evren Rutbil, Director of IICAS. Prof. Shitla Prasad Dubey attended as Chief Guest, Prof. Nirmal Kumar delivered the keynote address, and Dr. Nilufar Khodjaeva offered a special address informed by her work in Hindi teaching, translation and Indo-Uzbek cultural engagement.
Four technical sessions covered the historical and contemporary dimensions of Indian cinema's Central Asian journey. Technical Session I was chaired by Prof. Ulfat Mukhibova and coordinated by Mr. Parveen Kumar. It focused on Raj Kapoor's place in Central Asian cultural memory, Soviet-era film reception, the continuing presence of songs and stars, and cinema-related writing in local languages. A notable moment came when Prof. Mukhibova displayed an Uzbek publication associated with Raj Kapoor. The discussion showed that Central Asian audiences did not receive Indian cinema passively: they remembered dialogues, adapted songs, associated actors with ethical and emotional values, and incorporated cinematic narratives into family and public memory.
Technical Session II was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Manjeet Maan and coordinated by Dr. Amali Nisansala Perera. Presentations examined the relationship of cinema with language, literature, identity and intercultural understanding across South and Central Asian contexts. Technical Session III was chaired by Prof. Satish Pandey and coordinated by Dr. Usha Alok Dubey. It widened the discussion to regional and Bhojpuri cinema and considered how translation, subtitles, dubbing and cultural explanation affect the reception of films outside India. Speakers stressed that ‘Indian cinema’ cannot be treated simply as a synonym for mainstream Hindi cinema; India's multilingual and regional screen traditions are equally significant carriers of cultural experience.
The fourth technical session was chaired by Shri Bhanudas Mahajan and coordinated by Mr. Parveen Kumar. Dr. Swati R. Joshi's theme, ‘Beyond the Big Screen: Indian Cinema in the OTT Era’, directed attention to streaming services, mobile viewing, digital transformation and emerging audiences in Central Asia. The theme ‘Disco Dancer to Tajik Jimmy’ demonstrated that cinematic influence is not a one-way transfer from India, but a process of local interpretation and cultural adaptation. Sanjay Jagannath Bahare's paper on subaltern realities, Dalit marginalisation and the evolution of Indian cinematic soft power placed questions of social justice and representational inequality within the larger discussion of cultural diplomacy.
Paper presenters included Dr. Amali Perera, Sinhalage Harshani Maduwanthi Sinhalage, Rashadhi Yureshika, Sanjay Jagannath Bahare, Dr. Usha Alok Dubey, Dr. Rina Singh, Sony Kumari Thakur, Shamsiqamar Tilovmurodova, Parveen Kumar, Dr. Rahmatjanova Kamola, Sherdor Pulatov, Dr. Swati R. Joshi, Dr. Kuldeep Pandey, Kritika Pandey, Kiran Omprakash Goswami, Sumit Kumar and Dr. Namrata Sawant, among others. Dr. Santosh Motwani and Dr. Sudhir Chaubey also presented papers. The combination of senior professors, emerging researchers and contributors from different disciplines and countries gave the event a genuinely international and interdisciplinary character.
Principal Dr. Anita Manna chaired the valedictory session. Mr. Evren Rutbil delivered the valedictory address, while Dr. Manish Kumar C. Mishra presented the report of the two-day proceedings. Chief Guest Mr. Sitesh Kumar, Second Secretary (Commerce), Embassy of India, Bucharest, Romania, added an important diplomatic and international-relations perspective. He linked the academic study of cinema with the practical work of cultural diplomacy and described cinema, language, education and scholarly exchange as effective means of strengthening people-to-people relations. His participation gave institutional significance to the conference's central conclusion that cultural influence develops not only through formal agreements, but also through sustained encounters with films, stories, music, languages and shared memories. Ms. Shweta Pandey, Trustee of K. M. Agrawal College, attended as Special Guest.
The conference recommended the publication of an edited bilingual or multilingual volume of selected papers, an oral-history project on Central Asian memories of Indian films, systematic documentation of translation and dubbing practices, and the creation of a digital archive on Indian cinema in Uzbekistan and the wider region. Participants also encouraged comparative research on Soviet-era circulation and contemporary platform-based viewing, along with greater attention to regional cinemas, gender, marginalised communities and younger audiences. The organisers announced their intention to continue the academic network and work towards a future conference on ‘Hindi Cinema in Russia and Central Asia’.
All sessions were streamed and preserved in five video parts on the ‘Hindi Language and Literature’ YouTube channel, @Manishmuntazir, making the proceedings available as a public resource for teaching, research and institutional outreach. The organisers thanked the partner institutions, dignitaries, session chairs, coordinators, paper presenters, participants and technical support team whose collective work made the conference possible. The two-day programme concluded with a clear academic message: Indian cinema is one of the most enduring and emotionally effective bridges between India and Central Asia, but its history and contemporary transformation require careful, multilingual and collaborative scholarship.
